You create test folders to group test cases, so that only certain number of users can collaborate on the test cases which are part of a specific folder. 


Adding a Test Folder

Add Test Folders to organize your test cases according to team, business requirement, or any other meaningful purpose.

To add a test folder,

  1. From the side menu, click TEST CASES.
  2. Do any one of the following:
    • In the Test Cases tree, right-click on the Test Cases node and select Add Test Suite.
    • Click Test Cases + at the top-right corner.
  3. In the Create Test Suite dialog, complete the following details:
    • Name. Enter a name for the Test Suite.
    • Description. Enter the description for Test Suite.
    • Test Suite. Select from the drop-down list.
  4. Click Save. The Test Suite is created and appears under the Test Cases node.

Copying a Test Folder

Sometimes, to meet a business requirement, you may need to create new test cases with slight modifications. In this case, instead of creating the test case manually, you create a copy of the test folder.

To copy a test folder,

  1. From the side menu, click TEST CASES.
  2. In the Test Cases tree, expand the Test Suite containing the folder you want to copy, right-click on the test folder, and then select Copy from the options that appear.

  3. Right-click on the test suite where you want to copy and select Paste from the options that appear. A copy of the test folder is created, along with any available test cases. 

Editing or Moving a Test Folder

To edit or move a test folder,

  1. From the side menu, click TEST CASES.
  2. In the Test Cases tree, expand the Test Suite containing the folder you want to edit, right-click on the  test folder, and then select Edit from the options that appear.
  3. Do any of the following:
    • Update Name and Description to make basic changes.
    • Select a new test suite from the drop-down list to move the test folder to another test suite.
  4. Click Save.

Marking a Test Folder as Favourite

To mark a test folder a favourite,

  1. From the side menu, click TEST CASES.
  2. In the Test Cases tree, expand the Test Suite containing the folder you want to mark as favourite, right-click on the test folder, and then select Mark as favorite from the options that appear. A star icon in blue color appears next to the test folder. 

Exporting a Test Folder

The Export action allows you to send all your test cases out of your computer and save them in XML. Typically, the Export action is used when there is a need to migrate the test cases from one computer to another. After the test folder is exported, use the Import wizard to create test cases into the ETL Validator application installed in a different computer.

To export a test folder,

  1. From the side menu, click TEST CASES.
  2. Do any one of the following:
  • To export all Test Suites, expand the test suite containing the test folder, right-click on the test folder and select Export from the options that appear.
  • To export specific test cases in a test folder, select the test cases, and a) click Export or b) right-click in the grid and select Export.

Remove a Test Folder

To remove a test folder,

  1. From the side menu, click TEST CASES.
  2. In the Test Cases tree, expand the test suite containing the folder you want to remove, right-click on the test folder, and then select Remove from the options that appear.
  3. In the confirmation message that appears, click OK. The test folder is removed.
