The Query Builder utility is found embedded within the Data Comparison Tests to help create SQL queries against Source and Target databases by using the drag-and-drop mechanism. The Query Builder contains tables and columns from Source and Target databases. This allows you to drag and drop the columns from Source and Target, and apply conditions as needed. There is also an option for you to view the data model for the database and add new tables in case if you don't find the table you are looking for in the existing defined data model. Once you finish building the query, save the work. This will automatically write the SQL query based on the columns you have added. With that said, the user interface is so much user-friendly that anyone with minimum basic knowledge of SQL can add queries to their test cases.
The table below describes user interface options in Query Builder.
|Entities and Attributes||A list of tables and their columns from the defined data model defined in source and target databases.|
|Allows you to view the data model defined for the data source.|
|Target Query Columns||These are the columns added from the target data source.|
|Source Query Columns||These are the columns added from the source data source.|
|Clicking this icon clears the columns added to the Target Query Columns and Source Query Columns.|
|Target Query Conditions||Allows you to create query conditions on the columns added in Target Query Columns. Click the Rule button, select a column, select a condition, and enter a value for the condition if needed.|
|Source Query Conditions||Allows you to create query conditions on the columns added in Source Query Columns. Click the Rule button, select a column, select a condition, and enter a value for the condition if needed.|
