A Baseline and Compare Test Case allows you to create test cases to baseline and compare data in tables for identifying unexpected changes in the table data without writing SQL Queries. By using this wizard, you will create several Component Test Cases at a time. 


Create a Baseline and Compare Test Case

There are several methods to launch the Baseline and Compare Test Case in the ETL Validator.

Depending on your convenience, select any one of the following methods:

  • Method 1
    Mouse hover over the plus icon and select Baseline and Compare Wizard.
  • Method 2
  1. On the side menu, click TEST CASES.
  2. Click Tests +.
  3. Under Wizards for Creating Tests, select Baseline and Compare Wizard.
  • Method 3
  1. On the side menu, click HOME.
  2. Under Common Tasks, Click Create Tests.
  3. Under Wizards for Creating Tests, select Baseline and Compare Wizard.

Open/Edit a Baseline and Compare Test Case

To open/edit a Baseline and Compare Test Case,

  1. On the side menu, click TEST CASES.
  2. In the Test Cases tree, select the folder containing the Baseline and Compare Test Case.
  3. Click on the name of the Baseline and Compare Test Case.
Information You can also open a test case from the TEST RUNS view.

Baseline and Compare Wizard Details

When you want to create or edit a Baseline and Compare Test Case, complete the information in the following pages.

Start

In the first step, user required to select the Database connection and need to provide other details.

Objects

In the second step, user needs to select the table(s) or view(s) for which Test case(s) can be created.

Mapping

In this page, you will select the number of columns against the each table and create joins on the columns.

Generate

In the final Generate page, test cases can be generated by clicking the Generate button. Also, users can add the generated test cases to a Test Plan.

Generate

Allows you to execute the test case

Generate and Benchmark

Allows you to execute the test case and then benchmarks the test case results.

Finish

This button appears after the test case is executed. Allows you to close the test case.

Add to Test Plan

Allows you to add the test case to a new test plan.
