BI Validator allows users to create 11 diferent test plans. These include the following:
Dashboard Test Plan - This test plan benchmarks and compares dashboard page content (both appearance and data) and page run time.
Report Test Plan - This test plan benchmarks report data, appearance, and performance for Regression Testing. It also allows to measure performance trends across multiple runs.
Upgrade Test Plan - Compare report data and performance between two environments. For example, users can check performance between QA and Production boxes. The other significant use of this test plan is it helps find the differences after the BI is upgraded to a newer version.
Stress Test Plan - Stress test dashboard performance under different user loads and measure initial respose time and total response time.
Catalog Test Plan - Helps compare web catalog objects between two different environments to ensure there are no differences.
Physical Query Test Plan - Helps baseline and compare logical query generated by the saved analysis in the web catalog or physical queries from usage tracking.
Subject Area Test Plan - This plan baselines and compare logical query generated by the saved analysis in the web catalog or physical queries from the usage tracking.
Performance Test Plan - This plan monitors login and run times at different durations in a day.
Security Test Plan - This plan helps to monitor roles, users, groups, and access privileges.
Data Compare Test Plan - This plan maps two reports or a report and query, and then compares data.
Functional Test Plan - This test plan baselines and validates the Tableau dashboard's layout, data and visualizations actions such as parameters, marks, and filters as per expected test case results.
